ARMENIAN CHURCH SUMMER CAMP OF THE WESTERN DIOCESE
SEEKS STAFF FOR 2017 SUMMER PROGRAM
The Armenian Church Summer Camp of the Western Diocese, Hye Camp, is currently accepting applications for staff positions for its 2017 summer program.
Located in Dunlap, California a few miles outside of the Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, Hye Camp consists of four 1-week sessions for campers aged 8 through 17. Staff members 18 and over are needed each week in a variety of capacities, ranging from cabin counselors who supervise campers to general staff members who assist with various activities of the Hye Camp program. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours for school or work while contributing to nurturing the faith of Armenian youth.
This summer’s sessions will be held July 16-22, July 23-29, July 30-August 5 and August 6-12. Staff members are selected to serve one session and must attend a mandatory staff training session. Training days are June 17 in Pasadena and June 24 in Fowler.
The theme for the 2017 Hye Camp program is “Decades of Devotion: Celebrating 90 Years of our Diocese,” which coincides with this year’s 90th anniversary of the Western Diocese.
Staff and campers come from all over the Diocese to participate in the Hye Camp program. Clergy members attend each week to teach classes, lead daily chapel services and encourage Christian fellowship. Hye Camp is a unique opportunity for everyone to learn more about our faith and create lifelong friendships.
Interested in learning more about serving on the Hye Camp staff? There will be a staff mixer on March 18 at 7:00 pm at Edendale Restaurant in Silverlake. Past Camp staff will be present and can share their experiences serving on staff. Additionally, if you would like to visit the Hye Camp property, join us for Family Day on April 29 at Hye Camp. This is a perfect opportunity to visit and see for yourself all that Hye Camp has to offer.
The Armenian Church Summer Camp Program of the Western Diocese began over 50 years ago with a few dozen participants. Today, each week of Camp welcomes a minimum of 125 campers and approximately 50 staff members and is one of the strongest programs the Diocese offers its youth.
